October

In October, I went to two concerts and Disneyland. My grandfather passed away. I turned in my first Essay (as a full time college student) and had a successful re-write. I learned how terrible stress is, and am in the process of learning how to beat it. Here are a few photos from this crazy month:
This photo is from the Rock of Ages Concert. The sky was so amazing!
This is Josh from the band Manafest. He was really nice!

Life

Life has been really crazy lately. And now poor reader, you're probably thinking this is going to turn into an apology post, promising to "do better" and not to neglect this blog.
In a way, you're right, but wrong, at the same time.
I've realized I have been taking pictures each week, but haven't been posting. And some days, I do not take any photos at all. I think I'm going to change this blog for now, to a regular photo blog. When I can, I will update, but I can't promise I will all the time. Maybe in December I will re-start this 365 project. We'll see :D Thank you for your patience :)
I am off to do homework, and hopefully will see you soon.

SEPTEMBER 1-4

SEPT01

We had a "run through" for AWANA tonight. I was pleasantly surprised to find our 24/7 (middle and high school) group has grown! I am so excited to see what God does in our kids this year.

SEPT02

Decided to try a new thing in the kitchen today. Before frying my egg, I put a piece of cheese in the hot pan. I had cooked cheese melted onto the egg when it was done!

SEPT03

This is my sister, "A". She agreed for me to post this picture. My other sister, "K", and A were chopping fresh onions for my mom's onion dip for a party we went to today (Sept. 04). They were literally crying because the onions were so fresh! You can see A is wearing swimming goggles-they work to keep the oils out of your eyes.

SEPT 04

I accidentally stapled my pointer finger today. I was trying to fix my mini-stapler, because it wasn't fitting together right. Suddenly I felt a shooting pain, and there was half a staple in my finger! My mom pulled it out, but I think I still have a sliver in my finger. We will look at it tomorrow to see for sure.

8.24.2010
I have no idea why this is sideways x[
Again, homework wins the photo of the day. This was a 5 page paper due the next Wednesday, and I had just finished it the night before.
Typical college student xD

8.25.2010
No picture today :(

8.26.2010

One mom from our homeschool group mentioned to my mom that she brings her crock-pot in the car on long trips. There is a device called an "inverter" which uses energy from the car to make electricity! My mother made a delicious dinner with chicken, potatoes, and carrots, that cooked while we drove. We used the crock pot every day for breakfast on our trip, too.

8.27.2010

Today we visited Cabrillo national Monument. We climbed in the Lighthouse, read educational maps, and touched chain mail.

8.28.2010
My cousin got married today. I did not take pictures with my big camera. This post will be edited to include a picture from the wedding.

8.29.2010

We visited the Rock church today. It was huge! They are going through a series, "Soul Food." Their pastor is a very good storyteller. His sermon seemed directly to what was happening in our family that morning, too!

8.30.2010
My sister's choir sang the National Anthem today at the Giant's game. We stayed to watch the game. My cousin, Michael, got to come with us for a little while, and my friend Timmy also came.  The Giants were in the lead until around the 8th or 9th inning, when the Rockies scored two runs. It was a good game!

8.31.2010
I was going to take a photo of my youth group's announcement sheet, but forgot to.

8/17-8/23

8.17.2010

As you can see, this day was full of school. I had math homework due, and it was pretty easy for the most part, since it was all review.

8.18.2010 and 8.19.2010
I don't think I had a photo today :( I missed a lot of days this week.

8.20.2010

Pretty sure I read this book on Friday night. One more negative thing about not posting right away: memory fails!!

8.21.2010

The clouds were amazing today. This was taken at the "Connection Ministries" picnic for our church. Later that day we went shopping at the base, and watched Despicable Me in 3D for my brother's birthday.

8.22.2010

Happy birthday, baby brother! I layered his gifts in a huge box with newspaper and shredded paper as well. It was fun to make. He wasn't phased by all the wrapping though-he wanted the gifts.

8.23.2010

On our way to a ballroom dance (which was tons of fun, by the way) we spotted a fire outside the window. It stopped the highway for a while and had a huge column of smoke!

8/10-8/16

Instead of a plethora (love that word!) of posts, I will post all the photographs from the past month in sequences of seven days. I will work not to get so behind. Enjoy!

8.10.10
I do not think I took a photo today :(

8.11.10
I think my computer counter is messed up. It says this photo was taken on the 10th, but we had a Potluck on the 11th, and that is what I made this chocolate chip banana bread for. The potluck was with about half of my Uruguay Family. It was so nice to hang out and play "CHANCHO" again.
8.12.10

On Thursday I helped out at my (former) youth group's "County Fair" night. It was fun. Strange to be on the outside looking in, but good. Photographed above is my backpack; inside is my new planner, notebooks, and folders, for the next day I started school.
8.13.2010

Friday the 13th! First day of school-I like my sociology teacher. Also trying to add an English class. The photo is Galations; I was going through Galations...it's a very good read. You can also see my Pocahontas sheets which I have had since I was about 6 years old.

That night we went to a Lock in with my old youth group. It was lots of fun! they put spongebob on our pizza and we had yogurt and watched a movie and stayed up late. One highlight was seeing my friend Ally, whom I have not seen in at least 2 years!

Julia's yogurt with blueberries and strawberries

8.14.2010

After walking from the fro-yo shop to our old house, we walked to our family's favorite Japenese restaurant. Worried that the three of us would not have enough food, we ordered an Udon bowl, california roll, and a large Fried Rice. We ended up taking Udon home, and finishing everything else. When the waitress came back to get our food, she commented, "You guys only eat a little." Our eyes bulged and we smiled, patting our over-full tummies. On the way back home we tried to figure out how Japenese women stay so thin when they eat so much food!

8.15.2010
No photo today :(

8.16.2010

On this night I realized I didn't have a picture. My sister came in and blew some bubbles, and it was fun trying to photograph her blowing and catching bubbles.

Long time no post

For the most part (nearly every day) I have been taking pictures. It's taken me really long to actually post them, but I hope to get better at that. Sometimes there isn't much that happens in my day to photograph though-I am contemplating having you (readers) suggest ideas of things to shoot when I have an "ordinary" day. What do you think?
Let me know.

8.9.10

Change of title format for today because someone on facebook pointed out the neat arrangement of the date today :) That won't happen for another thousand years! I had Jury Duty today, but there really isn't much interesting at Jury Duty so I did not bring my camera.I decided today is Friend Day since I spent a while on the phone with my dear friend Alix, and got a letter from another dear one, Andrea. This is a photo of the letter, written in colorful pens and encouraging words :) Have you told your friends how much you value them lately? Sometimes all it takes is showing or saying that you care to make someone's day.

Delta Speech is the name of our Speech Club. This week we have Speech Camp, which is an intro to people who want to learn about speech and see if they are interested enough (or if the parents like what we are doing-many times kids are forced into speech at first. Then they come to like it.) to compete and stay in club for the school year. I came up with the tag line and designed the logo for the binders my mom put together. This is a finished binder, ready for the thirsty young souls ready to devour its contents.

Aug 7, 2010

We saw two deer on the side of the road and this picture was quickly snapped out the window. This was the only photo I took today, so although it is blurry, it is my "click a day" for today. Before we drove by these, we were caught in heavy traffic. After we passed the grazing deer, the cars amazingly started to speed up again.

Aug 6, 2010

Yes, this is a wall. A bathroom wall to be exact, on the badlands salt flats (I think thats what they are called)! In Utah last year we stopped by this awesome place with salt flats to walk on and a bathroom with amazingly orange walls! So when we came back this year I knew I had to take a picture of it. haha. This photo shows the wonderful color of the wall, although it is kind of cropped and cut off. There were people in line and I pulled my camera out and my sister said "If you want to take a picture, take a picture."

Aug 5, 2010

I got to use my super zoom lens again today! We went to the free concert on Fanny Hill. It was louisiana rock, and very upbeat. This is a picture of the drummer (obviously). After they were scheduled to be done, the band continued to play for over an hour! We of course, were back at the condo, as we had little ones to get to bed.

Aug 4, 2010

We ventured into the caves at Glennwood Caverns Adventure park! The tour was about 70 minutes long, and included a few passes through heavy, damp, cold, metal doors. This one was very ominous, and every one of them made a spooky "THUMP" which echoed when you shut them. After the tour we rode the rides and walked till our feet hurt and later had a nice dinner in Snowmass.

Aug 3, 2010

Today we hiked up to Maroon Bells, some of the most photographed peaks in North America. This picture was taken with my new-to-me 75-300mm lens! There were picas, flowers, bugs, and one other animal that is hidden in the extra photo below.

Aug 2, 2010

Today we took a bike ride from Snowmass to Aspen. It took about 2 to 3 hours. The ride was gorgeous. Here you can see the Aspen trees, bike path, and my sister, Teresa.

Aug 1, 2010

Today was my 19th birthday. My mom and my adopted "Tia" (aunt in spanish) surprised me with a Tres Leches (three milks) cake with my photo on it! It was very delicious and a great ending to a very fun evening.

365,000 words

They say that one picture is worth a thousand words.
This year I am aiming to write 365,000.
How?
By taking one picture a day for the next year,
I hope to chronicle my last year as a teen
and gain some insight into photography and life.
Feel free to join me, as I take
One Click a Day.
