8.9.10

Change of title format for today because someone on facebook pointed out the neat arrangement of the date today :) That won't happen for another thousand years! I had Jury Duty today, but there really isn't much interesting at Jury Duty so I did not bring my camera.I decided today is Friend Day since I spent a while on the phone with my dear friend Alix, and got a letter from another dear one, Andrea. This is a photo of the letter, written in colorful pens and encouraging words :) Have you told your friends how much you value them lately? Sometimes all it takes is showing or saying that you care to make someone's day.

Delta Speech is the name of our Speech Club. This week we have Speech Camp, which is an intro to people who want to learn about speech and see if they are interested enough (or if the parents like what we are doing-many times kids are forced into speech at first. Then they come to like it.) to compete and stay in club for the school year. I came up with the tag line and designed the logo for the binders my mom put together. This is a finished binder, ready for the thirsty young souls ready to devour its contents.

We saw two deer on the side of the road and this picture was quickly snapped out the window. This was the only photo I took today, so although it is blurry, it is my "click a day" for today. Before we drove by these, we were caught in heavy traffic. After we passed the grazing deer, the cars amazingly started to speed up again.

Yes, this is a wall. A bathroom wall to be exact, on the badlands salt flats (I think thats what they are called)! In Utah last year we stopped by this awesome place with salt flats to walk on and a bathroom with amazingly orange walls! So when we came back this year I knew I had to take a picture of it. haha. This photo shows the wonderful color of the wall, although it is kind of cropped and cut off. There were people in line and I pulled my camera out and my sister said "If you want to take a picture, take a picture."

I got to use my super zoom lens again today! We went to the free concert on Fanny Hill. It was louisiana rock, and very upbeat. This is a picture of the drummer (obviously). After they were scheduled to be done, the band continued to play for over an hour! We of course, were back at the condo, as we had little ones to get to bed.

We ventured into the caves at Glennwood Caverns Adventure park! The tour was about 70 minutes long, and included a few passes through heavy, damp, cold, metal doors. This one was very ominous, and every one of them made a spooky "THUMP" which echoed when you shut them. After the tour we rode the rides and walked till our feet hurt and later had a nice dinner in Snowmass.

Today we hiked up to Maroon Bells, some of the most photographed peaks in North America. This picture was taken with my new-to-me 75-300mm lens! There were picas, flowers, bugs, and one other animal that is hidden in the extra photo below.

Today we took a bike ride from Snowmass to Aspen. It took about 2 to 3 hours. The ride was gorgeous. Here you can see the Aspen trees, bike path, and my sister, Teresa.

Today was my 19th birthday. My mom and my adopted "Tia" (aunt in spanish) surprised me with a Tres Leches (three milks) cake with my photo on it! It was very delicious and a great ending to a very fun evening.

365,000 words

They say that one picture is worth a thousand words.
This year I am aiming to write 365,000.
How?
By taking one picture a day for the next year,
I hope to chronicle my last year as a teen
and gain some insight into photography and life.
Feel free to join me, as I take
One Click a Day.
